Were all men truly born equal?
Isn’t it a bit of a stretch to think we each have a unique gift for the world?
Do we dare dream that each and every single human is born with a special purpose that has something to do with using that gift?
Is it really possible to leave no child behind?
These questions are at the heart of what Teach Life -Skills is all about.
For most educators, most parents, most health-care providers and others who work with children, the answers to these questions are usually predictable. Even if you don’t believe its possible to succeed with every single child you work with, I’d wager you still believe it’s a good mission to have.
I think today we too easily adopt beliefs just because it’s politically correct to do so. There is a hidden danger in that. Let’s say you find yourself in a real life situation of having to work with an at-risk child. My thing is.. just being politically correct won’t cut it. For that kind of effort, you need to believe two things deep in your soul:
that the child is indeed redeemable
that you can make a crucial difference.
And so your answers to those questions I asked in the beginning are crucial. Not only that, you need to be really passionate about those answers too… because kids will test you.. and test you again… and again.
It doesn’t matter if your specialty is reading and arithmetic, or being a great Mom; at-risk youth or child-prodigy. There are so many crucial life-skills they all need, and won’t learn in school.
So once you’re passionate about those answers, your quest of coaching those kids in the game of life begins.
Teach Life-Skills exists to be your partner in that quest, but the quest is ever-evolving. It’s there for you to use. And it’s there for you to help us shape.
Let’s inspire the next generation past our own limitations.
